Chiesa del Gesù e Oratori delle Congregazioni dei Nobili, degli Artisti e dei Contadini – Church of Gesù and Oratories of the Nobles, Artists and Farmers Guilds

L’impianto della Chiesa ha origine cinquecentesca e l’interno è costituito da tre navate riccamente decorate.

La Chiesa del Gesù è tra le chiese strutturalmente più interessanti della città perché nell’area absidale è composta da tre oratori sovrapposti, a forma di torre, secondo una gerarchia sociale: l’Oratorio della Congregazione dei Nobili, quindi quello degli Artisti e, in basso, quello dei Coloni.

Nella volta si possono ammirare affreschi del genovese Giovanni Andrea Carlone raffiguranti le storie di Giosuè (1666).

La facciata è stata ristrutturata nel 1934.

It is a XVI Century church with a richly decorated interior with a nave and two aisles

The Church del Gesù is one of the most structurally interesting churches in the city because, in the apse area, there are three oratories stacked like a tower according to a social hierarchy: the Oratory of the Congregation of the Nobles, of Artists and, below, that of the Farmers.

In the vault are frescoes by the Genoese painter Giovanni Andrea Carlone portraying the stories of Joshua (1666). The façade was restored in 1934.
