Porta di Santa Croce o Tre Archi – Gate of Santa Croce or Three Arches

E’ conosciuta come Tre Archi e adiacente all’Arco dei Funari (XIII sec.).il cui nome deriva dal mestiere dei fabbricatori di corde.La nuova porta, e la via che l’attraversa, furono aperte durante la ristrutturazione viaria del 1857, su progetto dell’architetto Giovanni Santini. Ha avuto anche la funzione di barriera daziaria e all’esterno, incassata nel suolo, era la bascula per la pesatura delle merci. All’interno si sviluppa un breve porticato con colonne in stile dorico (XIX sec.)

Better known as “Tre Archi”(Three Arches) it is near the Funari Arch (XIII Century), which takes its name from the rope making profession.
The new Gate, and the road passing through it were opened during the roads reorganization of 1857, following the project of the architect Giovanni Santini. In the past, it was used as a toll gate and in the exterior, there was the weighing machine for wares. In the interior of the Gate, is a portico with doric style columns (XIX Century).
