Parco della Pescaia – Pescaia Park

Realizzato negli anni ’70 e sviluppato su una superficie posta a quote diverse, è dotato di attrezzature per attività ludiche e ricreative, nonché di un teatro all’aperto.
Il Parco occupa un’area caratterizzata dalla presenza di un sistema di vasconi di raccolta delle acque sorgive della zona nonché di quelle provenienti dal fosso della Pescaia che scorreva lateralmente all’attuale parco, e che venivano utilizzati sia a scopo irriguo che per l’allevamento del pesce.Al suo interno sono presenti le Fonti di Veggio, di origini antichissime, che avevano la funzione di raccogliere ed incanalare le acque delle sorgenti vicine; fonte ricostruita nella sua forma attuale tra il 1615-16 ad opera di Matteuccio Salvucci.

The park, built in the seventies and developed in an area on different levels, is equipped for fun and recreational activities and with an open air theatre.
The park occupies an area characterized by the presence of a tank system for the gathering of local spring waters and those coming from the ‘fosso della Pescaia’(Pescaia ditch) running alongside of the present park, and that were used both for irrigation and fish farming.
Inside its area the ‘Fonti di Veggio’ (Veggio fountain), of ancient origins, that had the function of collecting and gathering the waters of the nearby springs waters; fountain which has been reconstructed in its present form between 1615-16 by Matteuccio Salvucci.
