Tübingen è gemellata con Perugia dal 1984. Con una popolazione di circa 90.000 abitanti, è’ situata nella regione del Baden-Württemberg (che comprende la Foresta Nera) a 40 chilometri da Stoccarda ed è attraversata dal fiume Neckar.
E’ una città universitaria con i suoi 25.000 studenti ed è proprio l’università il tratto fondamentale dell’identità di Tübingen nel mondo.
E’ impossibile enumerare tutti coloro che qui hanno scritto e fatto ricerche. I tre più importanti sono: Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling, Friedrich Hölderlin.
Tübingen è una città affascinante, con un passato illustre, culla di poeti e pensatori.
Particolarmente interessante è la ricca vita culturale a Tübingen che si può cogliere a teatro, nei concerti, alle mostre, nelle conferenze e nei congressi internazionali. In occasione dei numerosi eventi culturali si ha l’impressione che qui, negli stretti vicoli della città vecchia, giovani provenienti da tutto il mondo, si diano appuntamento in un’atmosfera di libertà e di tolleranza.

Tübingen has been twinned with Perugia since 1984. The city has about 90,000 inhabitants. It is located in the region of Baden-Württemberg (which includes the Black Forest), 40 kilometers south of Stuttgart and is crossed by the Neckar River.
Life in the city is dominated by its approximately 25,000 students and the university is the most important aspect of the identity of Tübingen in the world.
It is impossible to list all those who have…..philosophized, narrated, written and conducted research in this university. Who are the three most important? They have always been a mixed blessing for students: Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling and Friedrich Hölderlin!
Few cities in Europe have the charm of Tübingen. It is a cradle of poets and thinkers and a mirror of a prestigious past. It is lovingly protected within a living and developing community that produces culture, dialogues with the world and contributes, as in the past, to the civil growth of Europe.
The rich cultural life in Tübingen is particularly fascinating in its theatres, concerts, exhibitions, conferences and international congresses. When visiting the streets of old town Tübingen during one of the many cultural events, one will have the impression that young people from all over the world flock together in an atmosphere of freedom and tolerance.
The most important tourist attractions are the Rathaus (City Hall) on Marktplatz (Market Square), the Hohentübingen Castle, part of the University of Tübingen and the Hölderlin Tower, the emblem of Tübingen idyllically located on the northern bank of the Neckar River.
